We LOVE to read!

Here at the Greenville Arts Council, we LOVE to read! Which is why we were so excited to kick off our Family Literacy Program at Trigg Elementary School last night! We had 10 students and their families with us to read “Corduroy Lost and Found” and we had a ton of fun! The next three weeks we will be exploring other fun books through storytelling, discussion, and arts based activities. Check out pictures from last night below!

Our NEW Youth Literacy Program

The Greenville Arts Council is excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant through Kings Daughters and Son’s Circle #2. The grant will be used to implement an early childhood reading program modeled after our experience with the Family Reading Bonds program that we hosted at O’Bannon Elementary School through the Mississippi Humanities Council last spring. To kick off the program, yesterday we started a four-week program at Em Boyd Elementary School! We had 12 students and their families in attendance and we had a blast! Check back over the next few weeks to see pictures and video clips of the program. Want to learn more?
