Wow! What a program!

Our second pilot of the GAC Family Literacy Program wrapped up last Thursday at Trigg Elementary School and it was truly wonderful! Over the four weeks we made cards, learned African dancing from the student group at Coleman Middle School and painted a banner for the school with the Trigg PTO! All of our students received a copy of a book from the program and we are all sad that it is finished for the spring.

Our Second Youth Literacy Program!

Yahoo! We are ready to kick off a great year of literacy based programs with our partnership schools. This spring we are piloting the second phase of the GAC Youth Literacy Program funded through a grant through Kings Daughters and Son’s Circle #2. The grant is making it possible for us to implement an early childhood reading program modeled after our experience with the Family Reading Bonds program that through the Mississippi Humanities Council. To kick off the second phase of the program, next week we will be starting the four-week program at Trigg Elementary School! Check back over the next few weeks to see pictures and video clips of the program. Want to learn more? Our NEW Youth Literacy Program

The Greenville Arts Council is excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant through Kings Daughters and Son’s Circle #2. The grant will be used to implement an early childhood reading program modeled after our experience with the Family Reading Bonds program that we hosted at O’Bannon Elementary School through the Mississippi Humanities Council last spring. To kick off the program, yesterday we started a four-week program at Em Boyd Elementary School! We had 12 students and their families in attendance and we had a blast! Check back over the next few weeks to see pictures and video clips of the program. Want to learn more?
