Breaking it Down: What is Arts Integration and why should we care?
Participants worked to understand the definition of arts integration, learned about opportunities offered by GAP, and created goals for the upcoming year.
PreK-2nd Grade: August 17th (Riverside) and 24th (O’Bannon)
Using ArtsEdge: Counting Crows
Participants went though and overview of how to access ArtsEdge, learned how to present the lessons, and worked in grade level groups to adapt them to their classroom environment and specific grade level objective.
3rd-6th Grade: September 7th (O’Bannon) and September 21st (Riverside)
Using ArtsEdge: Creating Comic Strips
Participants will understand how to access ArtsEdge, how to present the lessons, and how to adapt them to their classroom environment or specific grade level.
PreK-2nd Grade: October 19 (Riverside) and October 26 (O’Bannon)
Act it Out!
Participants will understand how to introduce to the basic elements of drama as a way to have students summarize a story that has been read to them aloud or that they have read independently.
3rd – 6th Grade: October 19 (Riverside) and November 2 (O’Bannon)
This Story says What?
Participants are introduced to the basic elements of drama and how to effectively use Readers Theatre as a reading comprehension and fluency strategy. Includes a Readers Theatre script for chapter 1 of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol.
