On September 1st, Kindergarten teachers met at Melissa Manning Elementary School for the first arts integration professional development session of the school year. They discussed the definition of arts integration and how they currently use the arts in their classroom, then they participated in a model lesson integrating Kindergarten math standards (mainly measurement and geometry concepts) with the art of Piet Mondrian. The teachers had a wonderful time creating their own artwork based on Mondrian’s famous abstract style. Learn more about Mondrian here.
